Generac Power Systems

Cheaper fuel costs with longer run times
Bi-Fuel can be defined as the simultaneous combustion of two fuels with no loss of power or performance. For Bi-FuelTM operations in Ontario, Generac has an industry exclusive design that uses a mixture of diesel fuel and natural gas (NG) on a diesel engine. This process allows for a redundant fuel supply, reduces emissions and extends the time that on-site fuel lasts. Additional benefits include: lower capital cost per kilowatt (kW) compared to spark-ignited engines and reduced maintenance costs. Expanded discussion of all these benefits can be found in the Generac Bi-FuelTM White Paper (PDF).

What makes the Generac Bi-FuelTM system unique is that Generac has combined the cost advantages of combustion air gas integration with a factory designed, built, tested and warranted generator system for customer assurance of complete satisfaction at an economical price. Combustion air gas integration is the most cost effective method for feeding NG into a diesel engine for Bi-FuelTM operation. View the corporate website for additional Generac Bi-FuelTM System information and specifications.

Single stand-alone generators are offered in 300kW and 375 kW ratings, the SB300 and SB375, respectively. Generac also offers Bi-FuelTM in its MPS product line. Base modules are MB300 and MB375 single-engine sets, along with MB600 and MB750 Gemini® Twin Pack sets. Using Generac's MPS technology, any of the "MB" units can be paralleled together to produce total power outputs of up to 3,750kW. Additional information may be found visiting the Total Power Modular Power Systems section.

Generac Power Systems' Bi-Fuel generator has been selected as the 2005 Product of the Year Grand Award winner in EC&M magazine (PDF). This honor recognizes Generac's diesel and natural gas genset as the most significant new product in the engineering field. The Bi-Fuel generator had previously been selected by a panel of judges as the best entry in the power generation category earning the Grand Award over seven other finalists.

Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd. chose a Bi-Fuel genset as its emergency power system for critical IT and security systems at the Bolton, ON plant. While high reliability was a key priority, minimizing environmental impact was also a major concern. Read the bi-fuel case study Bi-Fuel Engine Kicks in Emergency Power and learn how Total Power was able to help integrate and maintain a Bi-Fuel system without disturbing the aesthetic appearance of the Husky facility.
