The state of Ontario's energy output has become questionable and the drive to generate power onsite is increasing. Global warming, increasing health concerns regarding airborne particulates have made efficiency and environmental performance an important consideration for new energy technologies. Electricity demands are expected to double in the next twenty years and energy prices continue to rise. Heightened global security, especially in relation to the Ontario power supply is becoming an alarming issue. Industrial and commercial customers are growing increasingly concerned about the reliability and quality of grid-connected power.  Proof is presenting itself in the form of a failing traditional energy model: aging stock of centralized generating facilities and the lack of industry and government vision have created a leadership void.

Total Power is the leading supplier of new power system technologies in Ontario. With increasing levels of innovation, customers need to know they can rely on experts to help with exploring, establishing, integrating and maintaining these new power systems in their particular applications. Here are some of the exciting new technologies:

Bi-Fuel Ð cheaper fuel cost with longer run times
Bi-Fuel can be defined as the simultaneous combustion of two fuels with no loss of power or performance. In the case of the Generac Bi-Fuel System, natural gas is utilized in conjunction with diesel fuel to operate the engine. Bi-fuel engines are able to operate on either 100% diesel fuel, or alternately, on a mixture of diesel fuel and natural gas. This process allows for a redundant fuel supply, provides the benefits of natural gas at the lower cost of a diesel engine, reduces emissions and extends the time that on-site fuel lasts.

Modular Power Systems (MPS ) Ð power redundancy and flexibility
MPS utilizes multiple diesel, bifuel or gaseous-fueled gensets linked in various parallel arrangements. While not a new idea itself, it is a well-proven method commonly used with large megawatt units in premium installations. Until now, it has not been economically feasible to combine smaller units because of the high cost of traditional paralleling switchgear cabinets. Our leading power partner has created the Generac MPS technology to break that price barrier.

Biofuel Ð green powerfrom waste gases
Ontario has a tremendous bio resource base for energy: industry, forestry,
crop and animal farming. That is why Total Power is currently developing
distributor partnerships with companies manufacturing generator units that
can convert waste gases and volatile organic compounds (byproducts of
industrial and agricultural processes) into electricity and heat. Units
such as these can be used to create a valuable electrical power and hot
water alternative for commercial, industrial and residential applications.

DC power Ð no power lines needed for heat and electricity
Living for long periods in remote Ontario areas, both on land and water, can be difficult. Electricity, hot water, comfortable air temperatures might just be wishful thinking. Not anymore. The DC WhisperGenTM is a heat and power system designed to be used as an electricity generator that also produces heat. The fully automated 12 or 24V diesel-powered generator system is designed to charge batteries such as those used to provide electricity in off-grid homes, boats or other mobile applications with minimal noise and extremely low exhaust emissions. It gives you an on-demand supply of heat for living areas plus hot water and the power to run all those things that make living conditions comfortable and quiet.
